On a K10D, I did a quick comparison between the
12-24mm and the 24-90mm at 24mm & f5.6. One shot
full of bricks, trees, shade & sun, taken twice,
15 seconds apart.. The 12-24 is quite a bit
better, especially in the corners.
Color saturation is very slightly better with the 12-24.

lenses I have tried on it yet: Pentax 12-24 and
Fujinon 400/4.5. Is it normal? Are some K10D
sensors worse than others? What can be done to

PX13(?) mercury cell. Later models were designed to give correct
meter readings with 1.5 volt replacements as well.

they have seen many M35/2.8 with this problem. The solution is
cleaning the blade and add an "oil barrier" or the problem will come
back fast. The A lens aperture mechanism has been redesigned to
avoid this problem.

28mm its vignetting was caused, they tought, by a "circle" not wide
enough for 24X36. Don't know it this makes sense. Maybe someone

Pentax Canada rep told my retailer that the FA 50/1.4 is now
discontinued and that they won't supply back-orders. Pentax Canada
gets their lenses directly from Japan, so I guess the lens is no
longer produced in Japan.

D1X is a very fine camera...
Be a bit more careful with overexposure, the sensor is older and has a
teeny bit less latitude so highlights can clip a bit more easily.

By the way, the 100mm f4 is excellent. With it, you need to add 50mm
of tube to get to 1:1, so either with the 50mm pentax tube or with a
combination of some of the tubes in the pentax set of three (or from
a set from another brand)

I found on the WEB that an excellent cleaner for fungus is Ponds Cold
Cream (or facsimile), It's used in Olympus agreed service centers.
You rub a tiny dab into the lens with your finger tip and clean off
with alcool. If some "spider web" remains, reapply cream and rub
harder...

I have had the same problem with a 400 Takumar. To fix the ring, my
repairman used some kind of black-colored silicone. Not my first
choice, but this may have rendered the repair economical.

lenses (notably the 200/3.5 & 500/4.5 lenses) - at least some working
at National Geographic.

As colors don't relect the same amount of light, Pentax lists the
exposure compensation needed for each color. I translated the names
into real color patch (with pencils) with the needed compensation and
taped it on the meter.
