Aaron - 'I put some new foam in the back rails a few months ago.' Every LX I've
seen (about seven) has a rubber gasket around the back, not foam. The rubber
gasket doesn't perish like foam and thus doesn't need replacing... what is it
you have done?

This gradation contributes to the famous Leica 3D effect.
So yes, define best.

there doesn't seem to be any detail (and likewise with hers).
I'm used to looking at film originated images and there is nearly always detail
to be seen in the shadows. Do you find this to be the case?
All the best

... they offered us the Eyecup M? An awkward rubberish thing that is difficult to fit
and falls off and gets lost at the slightest provocation... also, I defy anyone to
open the back to change films without flipping the thing to kingdom come, beyond this,
it rots... probably the best thing for
Heck, I'm fascinated. Might just go for it (as I live in London) I'll go pick it up in
person with cash. If it's a joke, I can walk away cash in hand.

See below from Boz's site. Does the aperture ring and 35mm coverage mean that Pentax
is planning a 'full frame' pro-ish digital, why else would the new lenses have such
coverage?
'According to DPreview, Pentax has announced two new and exiting lenses: smc Pentax-D

Ooops, sorry. Didn't register the bit about a polariser - I don't use them but I know
that the wrong type messes with exposure and autofocus.
Don't bother with my suggested test.

But now I can't sleep for worrying how that back got distorted in the first place;
what horrendous blow buckled the back. What cruel owner dropped the LX from such a
height (with the back open mind you) for it to smash onto a concrete floor on its open
back. What damage was done to the shutter
A while ago I started considering using some kind of soft focus filter. Wandering
around the web I became aware that the Zeiss Softar was considered to be the best
available (if a tad expensive). Reluctant to shell out much money on something I might
not like I set about trying to find images
that it should be the ticket.
Alternatively just about any fast-ish zoom and fast film or flash should work.

DL1/3N, 2L76 or CR1/3N are the designations.
I have used these lithiums in six LX's (I no longer have six but I got carried away at
one stage) they have worked fine and these double sized 3V batteries eliminate the
contact between the two smaller 1.5s which has to be a good thing.

I had this problem a while back and posted to the PDML. I got a reply from a member -
whose name escapes me now - and I took the precaution on saving his reply which I
paste below. You can order the latch/door from Pentax - it is quite inexpensive - and
fit it yourself.

'I am personally keeping Pentax Canada interested in doing CLA's for the LX.

Yes, I feel that SOMEONE will produce a K-mount Digital SLR. There's a vast body of
users out there waiting to part with some cash - too many to ignore. I figure it'll
happen when the technology has settled down a bit.

Hello Francis
The MX is 20 years old +/- all of these cameras will have rotting foam in the mirror
box and around the back. I know it's an expense but I suggest getting the camera CLA'd
anyway. You should then be okay for another 20 years. It's worth it, a serviced MX is
lovely to use,
I consider the gooey foam in the mirror box and the light trapping around the back
door an essential replacement on all K and M series cameras, older 6X7's, and ageing
LX's. I have had this done on my six Pentax cameras (K1000, KX, MX, 2 X LX, 6X7 along
with a CLA and I see no reason why they
Sorry about this, I have just subscribed and I'm trying to figure out how it all works.
