Dogs have a way of finding people who need them. I wouldn't hurry that

Many thanks to you all for the kind comments. Yesterday I went for a
long, memorial walk on our favourite trails. Somewhere down the line I
will decide if there is still another dog in me.

I'm sorry for your loss, but glad for the time you did have together.

Guess I know how you feel. Over the last few years, we've lost our two
old cats and had to have one of their two successors put to sleep with a
serious heart condition, not even three years old.
As others have said, they're family members

Sorry to hear that, Alan. They truly become special companions that are

Very sorry to hear that you lost your "trusty companion".
I lost mine about a year ago and I still miss him...

I don't have to imagine how you feel. 15 years ago my buddy Elton died,
at just 12. His successor is now 15 and I'm already experiencing
anticipatory grief. Both were rescues and both made even the worst
parts of life easier just being there. There's an old proverb,
Scottish I think, that
Sorry, Alan. Hurts to imagine how
you must feel.
