Manual is being conservative - all Pentax older cameras I have used (ME, ME Super; LX) have had much longer maximum shutter speeds than the manuals state. Maybe they cannot guarantee the accuracy of those longer speeds but my results have been fine. All the best! Raimo K Personal photography
