Ahaha. Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought someone would point
out that this was the way it supposed to work!
Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Sorry to hear of your problems.
I sent my K10D to Pentax to repair the SD card door and scratched rear
screen. I couldn't raise Phil Kerswill, but asked for rush service.
They took the full 8 or 10 days but returned it in good order, but it
was expensive.
I had dropped the camera with the
I would try a different, fully charged battery, and if that doesn't
work, tell them you want a new camera. Immediately. I'm sure some
Pentax folk will see your message here.

It's a normal function of the camera. Change the custom function to make
it behave normally, (though for some reason Pentax thinks what's it's
doing should be normal),

Gonz, in K10D there is an option, a setting even, where you choose how
you want your DOF preview served:
1. Camera stops down the lens. You look in the viewfinder.
2. Camera takes a picture and displays it on the screen. You examine the
picture.
Perhaps K100D has a similar setting which you c
Sorry to hear that skye. Geesh, now you have me worried about sending
my K100D to them. Its got a screwed up DOF preview function. If I
turn the on switch to the DOF position, instead of showing me the DOF
by stopping down the lens, it just takes a picture like the shutter
button would. I wonde
I just tried to do a 3-second exposure and something in my camera went
whirrr-thunka-thunka-thunka... pretty sure that's never happened
before. (both with and without image stabilization)
By the way, I have a spare camera, it's just not a k10D is all... poor
little *istD, that's not its fault. :(
That's a PITA. Happens with any/everything once in a bit these days.
It's why I always have a spare camera ...
I hope they sort you out quickly!

here you go - thought you guys would like to read an email I sent off
tonight to Phil Kerswill who's a manager in the Product Support Dept.
(BTW I've been giving Phil a hard time for hanging onto my camera for
6 weeks, so you'll have to read around the sarcasm a little bit)
