Does it print bands when you do a nozzle test?
That'll tell you if the nozzles are clogged.
Next step is print head alignment. If that's ok, I'd say you either
have a driver issue or an issue with the printer itself, and it's time
to call up Epson and complain.

Sounds like you might have a head with a bad nozzle. Just a simple
defect. Be certain you are electing the Best Photo print quality mode
in the Print Settings as it might be a dpi setting issue.
If nothing else works, exchange it for a replacement.

Have you turned off "fast printing" in the driver?
If not, that could be one thing to try.
To do this, you must set the colour adjustment mode ("main" tab in
"print settings"; "utskriftsinnstillinger" if your Windows is in
Norwegian). Change the setting to "custom", then click "advance
Try it with the settings for regular "Photo Quality" and Unidirectional
Printing (I think that setting is done by turning off fast printing).
If that does not eliminate the banding then you probably have to send it
in for warranty service.

Every Epson I have seen bands if i
ere's something wrong.
Hope you get a smooth transaction on the warranty claim. Send back
some of the prints with the printer.

Have you run the calibration/alignment procedure? (I'm assuming the
R2400 is similar to the older 2100/2200 model).
The only other thing I can suggest has already been mentioned (nozzle
check).
