I use the Vivitars with no problems. My set has the electrical contacts and
work fine. However, they are too narrow to couple with the "L" series
teleconverters, so avoid them if you plan to use them with the TC's.

There are automatic extension tubes that allow use of the lens in
aperture priority mode. What, pray tell, is "on-the-lens focusing"? I
can focus all my lenses when using extension tubes. Is this a
description of what happens with auto focus lenses?

Whoops! I stepped in it this time. Didn't read the whole message.

Thank you, Shel - I didn't know there was such an animal as a helicoid extension tube,
but I'll check it out now.

I've owned both but never at the same time, so it's not quite a "side by side"
comparison, but the Pentax tubes have a nice

Thanks, Shel. These tubes represent my first foray into macro photography,
so I can't justify a significant investment in Pentax gear yet. If I go
beyond just experimenting, then I may spring for the good stuff later. If
glass were involved, I wouldn't be quite so anxious to make a compromise.

Hi Tim,
I bought a used set of three off of eBay back in January, for $54 plus
shipping. This is Vivitar's AT-22 set. These tubes have the aperture
linkage (no au
Hi,
I have a perfect, like new set of the Vivitar tubes, and they are OK.
However, having tried a friend's Pentax set, I'd give up the Vivitars in
a NY minute. In fact, I bid on a few sets on ebay. The pentax just
seem to fit on the body and lens easier, seem a little better finished,
and, wel
Of course there's no glass, but in my book, construction quality rates
highly, too.
I feel this way about some polycarb lens bodies: they just don't have the
same "feel" that the older brass lenses did when using them manually.
Obviously, there's a big payoff in battery life (due to weight savin

There's no optics in an extension tube. You're
