I don't think it's Canon because their 4 data contracts are located on one
side only while Pentax's data contracts are located around the centre
contract.

I believe it's the extra Nikon contacts which are placed farther apart.
That's why it is safe to use Nikon flash on Pentax bodies w/o firing the
circuit.
