Don't you have "Budget" dishwashing liquid there?
Comes in a white bottle with blue writing and smells
of mint not lemon. Haven't tried using it as a
toothpaste yet, but I bet it gives you lovely fresh
breath and squeaky clean teeth :)

The only way that I have known is a product called "Opti-clean" which is
available in UK only. I think it's about UK$9 each.

I had just that problem - a fingerprint on a Super Hoya Multi Coated
filter - and ROR was of no help.

I had that happen with an off brand filter. I ended up washing
it with dish detergent and water, then rinsing it in distilled
water and allowing it to dry. It seemed to do the trick.

Try carbon black. Use only a very tiny amount with a tissue. If this doesn't
get it up, the coating may be etched. Sometimes we have a fair amount of
acid in our fingerprints.

By the way, I like the Hoya HMC filters when I use a filter. They make a
much better filter than Tiffen. I try not to use the Tiffens I have unless
necessary. The Hoyas are a Best Bang for Buck filter to me. When I get a
real job I can start using B&W's. ;)

When I put a greasy smuge on a filter or element I use ROR (Residual Oil
Remover). Might be hard to find, I only have one shop in town that stocks
it.
