Liking the bird in flight captures. I missed a chance late Sunday evening
while at Radnor Lake to capture a Blue Heron in flight. Long story but

The shot of the kids is excellent.
I like the first of the squirrel shots--very nice composition. He doesn't look
flat enough to be road kill, though. I suspect he fell out of a tree or off a

The MF shot looks very drab and low contrast. It's either a bad scan, or
the lens is poor. I'd suspect the former from my experiences with
mediocre MF lenses (My Super Ricohflex's lens is no great shakes,

shoot digital. I'm constantly amazed at how we try to judge the

Dave, seems like you have a very cooperative group of squirels & Jays!
IMO the backgrounds in most of your squirrel/Jay images are distracting.
Repositioning (higher, lower, left or right) the camera to capture their
antics without the distracting background would greatly improve these
images.
Thanks Ken, and i agree. Next year i may but a back drop together and
see how that does.

Very nice. I find it harder to capture detail in red flowers, because
the color often shows too much saturation compared to the surrounding
green, but you have captured these very well.

Nice lighting and color, Dave! The white background on the first, may not be
adding anything, but I don't see a practical solution.
Would like to have, also, seen the stamen in focus on the second. I realize
that at that apparent range, it would have been quite a DOF stretch.

Both are nice photos.
On #1, you might crop or clone out the red flower in the upper left corner.
The second is more interesting and I keep being drawn back ot the
sharp shadows of the pistol's.

Dan, if you shoot RAW and then reduce the luminance of the red channel in
Lightroom, red flowers come out very nicely--as Dave demonstrates here.
