I've been thinking about it, and would probably wait a bit until the early
adapters use the camera and report on it, and if it looked good, would wait
for the price to come down a bit. It would be great if there were more
information about it now.

As with many others, for me it depends a lot on price; I may hold off a
little while (if I can take the suspense...) for it to drop a bit.
Then again, I may not :)
Of course right away in Oz is often somewhat delayed from right away
elsewhere.

I'm still learning how to use my *istD that I bought in '04. I'll at least
wait until everyone writes about how much better it is.

I pre-ordered my *ist-D and got it a few weeks after it was generally
available (my local store is not high on the distributor's priority
list.)
I have pre-ordered the K10D, again through my local store, and will
have it as soon as it comes in. If I had to have it in hand immediately

The istD came out and every one balked or held out. Then WW

I'll be getting one, but not right away. I made the mistake of buying
my *ist-D very early on (October 2003), so I paid $1695 plus shipping.
Three months later the price had dropped by $400.

I kinda disagree. I was excited by the D and got one as soon as
I never owned Pentax prior to the *ist DS. Needless to say, I'm
pretty happy with the Pentax lenses and DS bodies I have already...
they do the job I need them to do very well. I'm only interested in
buying another body if it poses a reasonable upgrade advantage, and
the K10D will do that
I'll hesitate a short time. Will be looking for some early reactions
and, as Godfrey stated, will wait for confirmation of Adobe RAW
conversion capability.

If i remember Marks post the other day, we should be ok as far as
Pentax software, but i'm not sure about Adobe.
If it addresses my problems of flash, and battery, and the internal IS
system is not prone to failing in the first week, i;'ll probably get
one.
I think i'm overdoing it. I'll
I'll buy right away. I think the K100D will be enough of a test bed that we can
expect a bug-free camera.

I balked at buying the *ist D when it came out because of the lens
compatibility issue. Eventually, I did buy one, and got use to the
green button with older K-mount lenses. I would love to see full
compatibility with the K10, but if it doesn't happen, and the price of
the camera isn't too
Dave,
Is that the new 10 meg one with shake stabilization?
I want one by the end of September and will buy if it's out.

Surgeon General.. well, actually I'd like to warn you that
