Fred, What I was trying to put across is the the optical and build quality on some of the Tokina lense surpass that of others - such as Sigma and Tamron. All the Sigma lenses I have handled and used are "throw away lenses". My wife had one on her Minolta AF I bought her in the early 90's - it

I was a little surprised to find mine at a camera store. The owner was going to put it on e-bay because he figured he could get more for it there. I nabbed it along with an incredible Tokina ATX 90mm f2.5 macro with special macro multiplier for less than the 30mm would have gotten on e-bay. It'

I've only had mine about two weeks, but I really like it. Build is superb, and though it is of course wider than 35mm, it doesn't seem to stretch the corners like a 28mm. Flare seems well controlled, and bokeh is nice. I haven't noticed undue light fall off, and sharpness even wide open is good.
