I've played with a couple USM/AF-S macro's. The only working advantage
is that you can leave them in AF mode and override the camera's focusing
decisions. Which the D-FA lenses already allow.

I think a macro would benefit of it. Usually a macro lens as a long
(sometimes very long) focussing ramp (for obvious reasons). In this
case, if SSM is supposed to be faster, then yes it would benefit a
lot. My SMC 100/3.5 macro which I quite like is difficultto be used as

That may explain the conflicting numbers flying around for the amount of
RAW continuous. I've heard from 9 to 12. Better buy some more disk
space boys...
16 bits sounds very interesting. Could change the way even die hard JPG
people look at RAW.
