Went into Cord lunch today. Saw a 20x30 color print
(real, not inkjet) made from a 6mp CCD digital.
In a word: Nice.
Very, very few edge artifacts from being digital.
The color depth just isn't quite as good as film,
but if done 11x14, there would be NO reason to
consider film.
And I prefer
Cord also has a Majestic tripod with some extension arms,
geared head, and Slik macro head. $150, IIRC.
Anyone interested in a nice heavy tripod?

While Cord Camera has a lot of used stuff
to get rid of, they're dumping it on Saturdays (only).
Today it was all marked 30% off.
They've got 3 645 units. One with 75/2.8 lens and 120 insert,
shows some use but seems to be in fine mechanical shape.
$779 - 30% = $545. A nicer one for $799 - 30%
Well, got rid of the MX, A35/2, FA50/1.4.
Got my new-to-me 5n coupled with 43/1.9. Nice. Pretty.
Only one other lens kept -- A100/2.8.
I put the data back from the 5n onto the ZX-M
The ZX-M's for sale to anyone interested. $125.
I might regret getting rid of the MX. Some day. But that's
Kodak's VC is contrasty and more suitable than NC (which is best for
portraits).
The difficult part (to me) would be lighting control. Too much angle and
stucco
looks like mountains. Too little and the texture doesn't show. The result

Often too much information is discouraging.
Marketing departments are always trying out prototypes, most of which
never get any where near users, except for response testing.

I was in Cord Midwest the other day and saw the new (at least I've
never seen it before) 410/3275 head. It's a 3-pivot-point design and
is geared. The gears have hand grips for hand control.

They're ok to begin with, but they're old.
EBay aside, even a good one has a number of
years on it. That's hard to justify, in
my mind. Better a newer ZX-M. Decent build
and same character -- manual focus and classic
manual exposure. Plus Av, Tv, Program, and
DOF Preview to boot.

What I'm not enjoying in the darkroom is a new problem.
My T-Max development went ok once I figured out times.
But my Tri-X film has spots on it. Even-sized dots.
I agitate regularly. Any ideas?

I've been using some old reading magnifiers with glass lenses.
They're not optically excellent as a nice Mamiya (plese,
don't shoot) or Pentax loupe. But they only sell for a dollar
or so at garage sales (my summer home) or thrift shops (my
vacation spots). Why spend $200 when some good

with no carriers. So I built a bunch out o some rather rigid
poster board. Seems to work fine, even for 4x5, and very well
for 6x9 and 35mm.
As far as alignment, I was in Midwest Photo Exchange Friday and

The detents on your aperture ring, as well as on
the shutter speed dial of those who have one, is
only a guide. If you need a setting in between

Do you really think your shutter and aperture
are that accurate?
Here's a simple test. Shoot a frame with flash
and set the SS and half of sync speed. (1/250 if
sync is 1/125). Then see what the % error is on
the print. It'll be off at least 10%, unless you're
lucky a really good body
