The wax is made in an open carport,as making the wax has bad fumes reaching
well over 400 degrees. I now use an accurate digital themometer. The molding
is done at a much lower temperature, and the mold is kept warm, but the mandrel

Shawn,
Those are interesting videos, but not long enough. How about something that
shows the entire process? What type of molds do you use - are they custom made,
or originals?

It never ceases to amaze me what I learn on this list. I had never heard of
using brake fluid to soften brittle rubber parts. It makes sense though...
Thank you for the tip Bill.

Why not go to a hobby shop and get some mold material and see if you can

Ron: The rubber cup is a friction fit into a concave depression needle
cup (applied metal cup?). Any that I have seen is not round on the top rim
but elongated so that the reproducer will be cradled securely while the
machine is moved. On the outside edge of the rubber cup is a depression w/

Melted wax can be highly flammable so you wouldn't want that inside your
home. Although I'm sure someone has tried to do a deep fried turkey over a
propane burner in their house at one time or another.

Most interesting, and thanks for sharing! Question: It appears that you were working on an enclosed porch. Does the
process produce stinky or dangerous fumes? I'm wondering if it's something that could be done in a basement without
endangering the rest of the house

Sorry, my fault. I told the joke about the English phonograph industry

You like the "Old Cranky" part of the Model T, which I love as well... they are
my favorite Fords, along with the 1934 Bonnie & Clyde models. Model T's fit
right in with crank phonographs - simple, dependable and bulletproof.

If there is no puddle of oil under the machine then it is out of oil and
you need to add some. 1938 MG-TA leaked like a sieve.
