First, I think Steve had a good comment in that there are some pack/ship businesses who may provide better service and help to ensure things are A) packed well and B) covered if something happens. Thats why they call it insurance. I also believe the added expense sometimes is justified

I agree Peter. There are local UPS pack and ship stores that I have utilized this same method. Pack the item and hand it over to them where they box it for shipment. When insured for full value, they cough up a check with no questions asked. I believe my only claim through one local pack
