By "built-in" I meant built in to MS Office (Outlook), not
built in to every copy of Windows ever produced (Outlook Express).

Yes, I agree. That IS what YOU get.
Here is what I get:

This is not universally true. On my system the From: address
lists the actual list member's address. The Reply To: address
is the one that has the list address in it. I believe that the better
e-mail programs such as Eudora have the capability to sort

I often receive over 100 e-mails per day. It it VERY usefull to me
to have the pinhole list message subjects identified with the

An additional data point: in Outlook I can filter using the From: address,
and since all the email comes from pinhole-discussion, it would be easy
enough to use that filter, instead of the subject line. I imagine you can
set a similar filter in other programs.
I also use the subject line to filter my mail into different folders, but if
the subject line was shortened to just "pinhole" we'd still have the
filtering capabilities and the subject lines would be shorter.

Like many others, I also use the [pinhole-discussion] as a way of filtering
my email messages and routing list messages directly into my
pinhole-discussion mail box. I appreciate that it would present a problem
to many people if it were removed. Likewise, changing it would also be

I subscribe to two other photography groups, so seeing the pinhole-discussion
is helpful in organizing my e-mail.
