Anyone on this list currently using MythTV as a DVR on Linux? If so, what
are your recommendations for a TV tuner card and an extremely low power
consumption desktop? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jen

Not only are they doing what you mention but the co-pays are increasing
10%. I am at a loss where to turn as the options available are becoming
more limited.

May I suggest using Unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/), zap
your USB to FAT using fdisk as that for me seemed to work best and then
download your .iso and open up Unetbootin and burn the iso to the USB
stick, it will do all the work for you. I have successfully used this for

Are there any USB or other types of devices trying to load at boot?
Perhaps try disabling all of those in settings.

You could run Tinyproxy with Dansguardian and then use the filters in
Dansguardian to restrict where the XP host can go via the web, if at all?
Then use IPTABLES to further restrict
Great post everyone, got my interest in an alternative to get rid of land

Anyone have any good recommendations on study materials for the Linux+
certification? I browsed through the available materials on Amazon, but
Amazon appears to recycle user reviews for available materials so it is
nearly impossible to tell for sure if the reviews one is reading even

What are the results from 'lsusb' and 'iwconfig', assuming these command
utilities are available in Suse.

I have used (and still do use) Kino and its actually a pretty decent
program. Learning the proper way to cut, splice and edit is slightly
different but once one gets it then its a snap. Solid enough to keep me
safely away from the Windows environment.

Maybe do not install any OS on the laptop or Dell might claim that by doing

Why not just download the most recent and place the file in her own home

Does anyone have any good recommendations for PATA based SSD drives for an
older Gateway laptop that does not support SATA, that has no issues running
Ubuntu or Debian? 32-64GB is acceptable for capacity.

Sure all these things are choices but what about when they affect everyone
else in the work environment? For example if everyone at the company is
allowed to access porn but by allowing this all the company's bandwidth is
saturated and nobody can get any work done.

Not sure about reallydarkblue but darkblue does work for xterm -bg, the
rgb.txt file should contain all the colors that can be used. A quick but
not comprehensive search did not yield any html color codes for

Make sure to use the latest version from www.virtualbox.org via Apt (

the no server suitable for sync error is most likely the result of the

the line:
NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=yes
is set to:
NTPDATE_USE_NTP_CONF=no
and then try ntpdate sync
