Interesting topic. I wonder how it will workout. I read an article last year about a couple in Tucson that are capturing rain water and that was enough to supply their needs. I did some research and there is a formula based on roof space and rain fall that will determine the amount of water

Does anyone on the PLUG list have experience using Ventoy? A friend used his Ventoy USB flash stick to install Linux Mint on a used thinkpad t470 that I purchased. But I then discovered that the newer Linux Mint version that he installed does not have many KDE capabilties that I have always had

I have used it, yes. You need to download the ISO files to the USB drive and put them in a folder. Ventoy is useful, but I discovered it doesn't launch the Windows 11 ISO gracefully, so I had to stop using it for that application. I find it somewhat foolish that you paid money for it. It's a free

"Coming lack of water" is going to be handled by zero-waste. 100% recycling all waste water. Think about that for a minute... yes, all that water that is flushed down the sewer will be reclaimed and recycled into potable water. Unimaginable? Google: Toilet to tap. And yes, your cities are alrea

Ok, we are SO FAR off-topic that I shouldn't say anything, and I apologize for adding to the noise! However, I have one comment.  For many years I was a BIG fan of wind power. Now, however, I've realized that nobody has calculated the effect of removing MEGAWATTS of power from the wind.  Think

I have no experience with it, but I actually read your query and have some suggestions. First, let me try to straighten out my confusion.  You say someone installed Linux Mint on your laptop, but then you say it boots windows.  So I'm a bit confused. In any case, I've used T470 laptops, and

Thanks Rusty ... Your comments are very helpful! To clarify Linux Mint got installed on one of the two "new" (used) thinkpads that I just bought (for $150/each) Both had win-10 installed. Mint was installed on the t470 and the t480 still has windows running with Ventoy downloaded, but not workin

Pump up the noise! Whereas megawatts of power is being removed from the kinetic energy of the wind, how much of the total is it? How wide is the wind, and how high, compared to the size of the wind farm? The windmills remove some fraction of a percent. I think this qualifies as "a gnat's fart
