I am trying to connect to SS on my desktop from my laptop. I entered
the IP address 192.168.2.2 and the URL (http://192.168.2.2:9000/). I
can access the music file but not the server. What am I doing wrong?
I don't see any relation to Moose - but then I don't know Moose too much,
neither.
Is there any way for SB to play internet demos like that at
http://www.myspace.com/winterkids - if you point yuor browser at it
music starts playing, so one would think SB could do something similar.
I tried putting the URL in the podcast field on the setup screen, but
that does not work. Any idea

Hi
I am having difficulties getting Alien working and wondered if anyone
could help me. It appears to be running happily, but it's silent on
the Squeezebox or SoftSqueeze. I have even tried copying over the
complete SlimServer file structure from a PC which has it working, but
to no avail. Repl
Any idea on how to run Slimserver and MusicMagic on a different PC?
Both running Windows XP?
I looked at MMM.ini and do not see any parameter for that.

Unless you have a good reason for running 1.00 - I'd advise you to run
the 1.01 installer for Windows - it'll do all the work and only very
rarely does it fail. It will be quicker than trying to debug your
current installation and if you still have problems - you will be on a
known baseline.

AlienBBC is Firewall and Antivirus software. Try disabling the s/w and
see if it makes a difference. Some s/w such as ZoneAlarm needs to be
uninstalled.
If disabling / uninstalling the s/w fixes the AlienBBC problem, then

Thanks. I have uninstalled SlimServer and deleted its folder structure
under C:\Progam Files, then re-installed 6.2.1 and Alien 1.01 using the
new setup program (much easier!). The older versions were because I had
tried copying from a running setup on another PC after a fresh install
of 6.1.2/1

I don't have any problem connecting to the server through my laptop's

The fact that mplayer works in standalone on a BBC station points to a
configuration problem or a socketwrapper. Since you did the install
from the installer and changed nothing - I think the confguration is
OK. So we need to exhaust the socketwrapper area.
The socketwrapper problem is caused
Just remembered another simpler possibility - network timeout.
Try changing the Radio Station Timeout (under Server setting/Network)
from 5 to 30.

I tried adjusting the timeout, but it didn't have any effect. However,
the replacement socketwrapper worked a treat. I didn't even have to
adjust the XP firewall or Network Associates VirusScan anti-spam
settings: just restarting the SlimServer with the new socketwrapper

Have made the change, but no effect.
if you use the windows exe, you need the perl dev kit to build a new
exe.
if you use slimserver.pl then it will work from just the patch.

Edit the MusicMagic Plugin and change all references of 'localhost' to
the address of the MusicMagic server.
PS I haven't tried this and know nothing about Perl but would possibly
work. Maybe.

does not plan to have a version of MusicIP running on Linux versions
