What does "ls -l /opt/slimserver" say (run from the shell)?
Please post /tmp/slimserver.log - there might be some hint about the

OK, that log looks pretty normal to me, and suggests that it might
simply be a documentation bug. :-) I see in the log that you navigated
to "Screensaver when off" -> "+1/9 Screensavers (1:00)" -> "60 seconds
(1:00)", and that looks great. In order to change the duration, you'd
need to use Up or D

I also recommend LazySearch but I think OP has missed a standard feature
- press the number multiple times to get taken to the beginning of the
list for each letter. (twice 2 for B, for example).
