I'm very glad this came up! I've been having problems with both
CDPlayer and Wave Input plugins, which I can't solve. This does the
trick (mostly). I'm gathering it's an mp3 stream which isn't ideal, but
it gives me the option to stream across my system.

FYI, I was just playing a CD and when I plugged in an additional
exterior hard drive, it killed the sound and LMS showed "No CD in
Drive". I don't see anything distinctive about the drive locations or
lettering. I replicated the condition just to make sure. Ejecting this
new drive immediately

Thanks for your dedication. This community continuously amazes me. So

I went in to the computer's "device manager", disabled the empty card

There is a card reader with the computer. It was empty. Just to make
sure, I put in a SDHC card, right-clicked to
Here's what I did:
1. Shutdown LMS
2. Ejected all external HDs, except optical disc drive which remains
powered.
3. Restarted LMS with admin rights
4. Ran this command line, with admin rights:
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins\CDplayer\Bin>cdda2wav
-scanbus

First I feel I am no geting consistent information. Have you been
plugging disk in / out of your system while various test runs have been
done ?
**Not before now, as far as optical drive, but I have just now put in a
different, more modern disc drive (Blu Ray compatible) into the exterior

seeing optical drive, but it's on and working.
Also, attached shows server log upon launching with "run as
administrator"

I now have the cmd prompt opened as administrator, but I don't know
where I need to be to run the script. This did not work, so I assume I
need to be somewhere else.
C:\Program Files (x86)\cdrtfe\tools\scripts>cdda2wav -scanbus
'cdda2wav' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

To check windows behaviour/versions etc, I have to shut down a system,
reconfigure hardware and reboot windows - so I have to plan what I want
to test and when, to the most out of the test and minimise disruption to
my own setup..

Firstly, I open LMS automatically with startup of Windows. Just

cdrtools and re-opened LMS as administrator, from the Windows start
menu. None of this

I've made sure that all users (but it's only me) have all permissions.
No change, unfortunately. I wonder if it could be a Win 10
Hi, I've always loved this plugin, and have used it for years. It's
apparently not seeing my CD drive on my brand new desktop.
LMS 7.9.2, Windows 10 Pro. CDPlayer v1.10 is shown under active plugins.
When I go to settings, it shows "unassigned" under "CD Rom device

Everything had been working just fine with WaveInput until I installed
JRiver as a music player on my Dell Vista desktop. Since then I have
not been able to get WaveInput to stream into LMS 7.9
I've uninstalled JRiver. I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers as
well as WaveInput. I've tried
I needed to set Speakers/Headphones to the default device. Voila!
OK to delete this thread. Thanks.

Onto something here... I had updated drivers a couple weeks before the
problem, essentially to utilize a s/pdif output that didn't have a
driver. The update correctly got me the s/pdif driver, but seemingly
made the stereo mix driver vanish. There is nothing to activate!
I'll investigate.
Wow. This appears to be a real problem. If you google no stereo mix
driver vista you'll see what comes up. It's apparently a big deal that
lots of manufacturers (including Dell) have intentionally ommitted the
Stereo Mix drivers. I'm guessing that I had an outdated XP driver on my
Vista
Got it! I got the drivers from the Realtek site, so Stereo Mix is back.
(SPDIF is gone, though... next issue, I guess)
Thanks!

I don't run Windows normally but IIRC the shortcut was a LMS control

If it is the control panel it offer 3 optiosn on how to run LMS - what
is set on your system ?
Don't start automatically.
I appreciate it very much!
from Control Panel information tab:
LMS version 7.7.3
CUT2013 (don't know what this means)
Operating system: Windows Vista - EN - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 586
Perl Verision: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
Database Verion: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
I just checked, and the wavincmd.exe file was already noted in AVG as OK
(exceptions), apparently . I added SqueezeSvr.exe to the list.
I then applied, stopped LMS, restarted. No change.

How are you looking at the log file ? Are using an editor ? If you are

Glad you have more information to work with; I must've done something

I start LMS via desktop shortcut icon after system has been booted.
Sometimes right after, sometimes not for a while, i.e. it varies.
Nothing new, here, for me.
For yucks and grins I just did an xilink reset
I suggest the following
1. Check the Settings/Plugins tab and make sure there is a tick mark
against the WaveINput plugin.

Note the version -(**1.05)- and whether the Settings links works. Report
back version and whether settings link works.

I've used WaveInput frequently, and for years, without ever having a

Note start time, then try playing the waveinput Favorite you use. Wait
for about 1 minute and then stop stream and note time.
Copy all the lines from server log
I think the lines after pause are likely superfluous but I've included
them anyhow.
Thanks!
