Were you able to start the helper app manually in a terminal session?
Did you get any usable output from it there?
Did the helper app terminate before or after you had a chance to
actually try playing a stream or something from your Squee
of the plugin seemed to clear the directory and removed the
symlink and the alternative spotifyd.

ot;problem" was also there before the new -alt
version of spotify. Solved it with a symlink placed in the spotifyd
directory pointing to the SqueezeServer libFlac.so.8 location.

last night and it worked
like a charm. I had no problems when browsing playlists (although not
that long playlists) or playing songs.
