[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC plugin stops after around 75 minutes...

This is a slightly odd one, and it's taken me a few months to work out what's going on. However, I don't actually know how to fix this, but I think I can see why the problem exists. First off, I'm running SqueezeCenter 7.2, on a Linux system, and AlienBBC is working (almost) as it should. Genera

It's not drift per se. It's more likely that your non SB player has buffered up so much data ahead of AlienBBC (typically about 3-5 minutes)that acknowledgements are not being sent backto BBC from AlienBBC - ack are only sent when music has been played. If no acks have been received by server afte

It began happening after I upgraded to Squeezecenter 7.3. Alien BBC completely stopped, so I deleted it from my computer and then reinstalled it via the Extension Downloader. That got it going again, but now it does this time out thing that everyone here is talking about. If I knew that i was goi

There is no difference in the applications which handling the AlienBBC RealAudio between 7.2 and 7.3 - in fact no change since about 6.x. The 7.3 only add different menu handling which is about obtaining the URl toplay - nothing to do with playing. I believe there was a firmware bug relating to

Generally if you pause a radio stream (especially a live one) it will disconnect after a few minutes - so the "pause" issues is a separate and distinct disconnect cause. If a stream is left to play unhindered with no pauses - it then stops after X minutes. The streams can be stopped either by SC

the streams I'm playing are mostly "listen again" streams not live if that makes a difference - does the pause / disconnect issue impact them the same way? I will have to check if it restarts if there have been no pauses at all - I don't remember offhand if that happens too. cheers -- rossp

If it only affects "Listen Again" then you should try removing the "-bandwidth 1000" option from the 3 command line in the custom-convert.conf file ands restart SC. The "bandwdith" issues usually affects streams withing 10-20 mins - 75 is unusually long but possible. Removing "bandwidth" wi

I often get 2 hours of listen again without problems, and 4 or 5 hours of live streams. This is with SC7.2.1/7.3, running on Ubuntu, and with dodgy Internet connections in Philippines. -- peterbell peterbell's Profile: ht

With AlienBBC 2.4 (and possibly 2.3) for 7.3 - this has been simplified and there is now a AlienBBC setting "Fast Start" to enable/disable use of "bandwidth". Try disabling the "fast Start" and see if it makes a difference. This feature will only affect "Listen again" streams. If live stream st

If your SB connects wirelessly then AlienBBC default use of Flac may be stressing your connections. Try disabling RTSP->Flac and RTSP->WAV (see Settings/Advanced/FileTypes) so that BBC audio will be transcoded to MP3. Make sure you have lame installed. MP3 streams will use less bandwidth. --
