The following command start playing a 6Music and save the output into
the file BBC6music.flc. You can then play the flac file to check the
quality.
Code:
ffmpeg -i

Thanks bpa,
I am sorry to say, i haven't tried it utilizing the terminal. I am not a
savvy terminal user. However i can tell you that i only get the
distortion when using the iBBC plugin and live streams. All other live
BBC streams seem to be fine. it only happens within iBBC. What is the
terminal
yes. i replaced the opml file with the non uk version offered here my

I am assuming you updated the BBCiPlayer opml file ? Which opml file
did you use ?
How do you play the "other live BBC
That is correct canyelles, i was merely making an analogy. Has nothing
to do with any setting. The sound is unlistenable on live streams due to
the high distortion. I have tried everything and haven't been able to
figure it out yet.

I'm guessing he just means it is distorted. That is what I am getting. I
get distortion on all the live channels, listen again is ok. I don't
believe this is anything to do with a gain setting and I don't think he
means it is anything to do

I am getting this as well, totally unlistenable. Listen again is fine
though

Yes, of course ... will do.
I did notice it again this evening when I listened to something on Radio
2 Listen Again: the pattern seems to be OK for around 15 mins or so,
then a Rebuffering, and then regular dropouts once it kicks in again.
But I'll investigate properly and get more detail.

You really need to try Network Diagnostics at a time when you are
getting cut-outs, or possibly stuttering though any network problems
there will presumably have cleared up when the stuttering stops.

Thanks, Danco.
Seemingly just a coincidence, then? OK, so, I'll hang in there to see if
Listen Again improves.
I don't actually use Listen Live that much, but obviously I will have to
change over at some point in order to get that facility.
When I do, I can see the link to the relevant instr
Danco, OK, let's think coincidence.
I've just run network diagnostics: all reported fine.
Thanks for the tips on opml. I'll have a go at replacing the Listen Live
bit of the equation sur le weekend.

Well there I was innocently thinking it was just me. Stuttering playback
and cutting-out playback on various Listen Again BBC shows over the last
week or so on my Classics via OSX and the usually trusty iplayer plugin.

Yes, that was the problem. Now playing fine.

So everything seems to be installed ok according to the instructions,
but I'm not getting any output. Running Mac OS 10.10.2 on a MacBook
Pro.
The Play HLS plugin is installed, as is ffmpeg from the site suggested.
The File types do show ffmpeg under Apple HLS.
The new version of menu.opml is in

Yes, ffmpeg is in usr/local/bin, which I understand is correct. I could
try usr/bin, but prefer it in usr/ocal/bin. I could change the plugin to
look for it there if that's not the default, but anyway it is shown when
I check Advanced, File Types in LMS settings.
menu.opml is working fine, showin
Others will have more expertise but as a first step I would double check
whether ffmpeg and menu.opml have been copied to the correct folders.

I have now located and verified the correct path to the menu.opml file
in OSX. It is as follows

~/Library/Cache/Squeezebox/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/BBCIplayer
Where ~ is your home directory

To find the location of the LMS cache folder on your Mac you can look in

when you set up your Windows 7 PC, you should be able to navigate to the
right folder from the cache folder.

This post provides details OSX install of ffmpeg and then follow Linux
instruction for PlayHLS plyugin.

menu.opml needs seprate instructions.

Would somebody be so good as to put together a concise post on getting
HLS to work under Apple OS X to include location of the Menu.opml,
enabling LAME etc. A lot of the Apple related posts are scattered in
other threads :)
