I'll have here a similar problem with the installation. But I think my
problem is the 64Bit-Version of FreeNAS...
Maybe this is also the problem of the other guys...
Just for an example, if I try to run seral comands 'by hand'
freenas:/usr/local/bin# ./perl
ELF interpreter /libexec/ld-elf32.so.
Another update.
I guess you first need to install SlimNAS 1.0.1 and then upgrade to
SlimNAS 1.1.1. following the upgrade steps on Michael's website.
I downgraded from SlimNAS 1.1.1 to SlimNAS 1.0.1. Next I upgraded to
SlimNAS 1.1.1 and that does work. I now have SC7.1 running.

Hello all,
I had exactly the same problems as mentioned here.
Then I found out that the page from Michael refered to the folder
'latest' of slimdevices which contains the 7.0.1 CSPAN version of
squeezecenter.
Make sure you download the 7.1 version of squeezecenter. Unzip it
manually and replace

Are you running the latest and greatest SlimNAS 1.1.x? If you've been running
an earlier version of SC you'll need to update. Please see my web page.

I'm having the same problems with installation. I copied the format of
the slimserver_start() function out of functions.inc and ran it
manually from the command line. I got the following error:

Did you try ignoring the message and connect to it anyway?

OK, I've rebooted the server & re-installed SlimNAS. I still get the
same error message about Squeezecentre not being available.
Any ideas?

Is the squeezecenter folder created? What do the logs say?

Further to my last post, I now have Squeezecenter under the Extensions
menu in the FreeNAS web page.
It appears to have successfully detected the installation location &
the squeezcenter-noCPAN.tgz file.
When I run the installation process as detailed on Michael's web site,
I get an error messag

Hmm... did I only add this detail to the update instructions? Sorry about that.
Will have to fix them.
I'm glad it's working now. Have fun!

After reading your last reply, I tried renaming slimnas-1.1.1.tgz to
slimnas.tgz.
It worked!

Which means the slimnas.tgz either isn't called this or some other oddity
regarding extraction of that file. You did rename it, did you?

Hi Michael
There are no new folders.
I have used Putty & WinSCP to administer linux boxes before, I'm
certainly not an expert, but if you give me instructions, I should be
able to follow them.

Hmm... looking at the SlimNAS share, do you see any newly created folders?
How comfortable are you working in a shell (ssh)?

2. FreeNAS was installed by copying an image on to a USB stick & then
setting the PC up to run/boot of the USB stick. FreeNAS is actually
running on the memory stick so the total capacity of the RAID array is
available for storage.
