Have you considered squeezeslave? It's possible to run in the
background/minimized. It doesn't provide any GUI at all (which may or
may not be what you want). I run squeezeslave when I'm logged-in to my
windows PC which serves as a "virtual" squeezebox - I then control
either thru web browser,

Thanks - I did what you recommended but to no avail.
I ended up removing version 3.7 and installed ver 3.8 and bingo - it
work!
At tip to all if you get a flashing display on the softsqueeze
'sqeezebox' display: register/add the pin of the softsqeeze player at
www.squeezenetwork
go to the Folder where SoftSqueeze is and open the Jar file..hey presto
your softsqeeze will appear on the computer..i do this every time I
want too listen to music through Sqeezecenter..

Do you have the black & white headphone icon in the systray? WHen I
start softsqueeze it's minimized to the tray and that lets me open it.

Being new to the software and having done a prelim. search of the
FAQ/database, I still can't get softsqueeze 3.7 to actually appear on
my screen not to mention change anything via the remote.
I presume that it is running since, at last, I have sound & have an
entry under 'player' in SqueezeCent

My subscription is paid at Pandora and I can play it from my Boom, but

It takes somewhere around 1-4 hours to update your paid status - my
account is now recognized as a paid account. In addition, I am
currently playing Pandora through my Softsqueeze player, and I did not
have to upgrade to 7.3.1. So, the original poster that stated that
paid subscribe

This is my first Squeezebox/Squeeze Center problem in a long time. I
recently had to reinstall XP on my computer. Ever since I reinstalled
Squeeze Center I have an issue when I start SoftSqueeze. I get a "Java
Error" message that reads
"Java.lang.NullPointerException"
Softsqueeze WILL start
Everytime I've upgraded Slimserver/SqueezeCenter I've had to re-install
SoftSqueeze. No big deal. I figure it's akin to updating my
Squeezebox firmware... gotta do it.
And every time i've done it it's been pretty uneventful until now with
SC 7.2.0 which comes with SoftSqueeze 3.7.
