There's one not so little thing about the 500 series...they're *heavy*,
almost 6.5 pounds, especially if you stick both batteries into it,

I bought a 540C for my high-school (junior) kid and
it's been in use for a year for mostly games and AOL IM.
That seems to be about all it is good for though.
I wouldn't recommend it for a serious college computer.
Maybe with the 117 upgrade, you can get by with the 520C.

Paul gives you good advice. You did not say whether you are comfortable taking
apart a laptop. Remember, having a good technician do the job, even though
simple and probably about 10 minutes total time, including testing time, will
cost you $40-65. Many of us now do these tasks ourselves. It

I am back, yet again. (mailbox overflowed last time...)
Still working on the 3400: Got it networked with the 6300 via ethernet crossover cable
and offloaded all important data, installed 20 gig drive (amazingly skinny!), fixed
broken clicker (I think), reassembled.
Now it won't boot to the OS
