We have recently upgraded a PB 270C using the Mac upgrade motherboard to get
it up to a 2300 Power Mac.
Initially it worked but after a few minutes it " goes to sleep". No end of
changing and checking bits seems to cure this. We have tried:
Removing the internal battery and restarting
Using an exte
None of these work. It tries hard but just stops a few minutes into
its run
time.If you restart it only goes as far as the Mac welcome screen then
freezes. If its turned off and rebooted after about 5 minutes it will
reboot
from the CD.
Anyone got any ideas before we bin the machine and Docks?

According to Apple, an enabler is only required for Sys. 7.1
7.6.1 runs fine on my 540c without one.

In any case, in order to get 8.6 to properly install I seem to remember that
there is an extension that must be loaded first, otherwise the installer
choked. It came with the upgrade card. You can make a custom 8.6
boot disk that
has that extension on it, then fire up the installer.

How much memory do you have installed on the 1400? Because irregardless
of the G3 upgrade the 1400 should run 8.6 without any issues. Unless you
have I believe less than 24megs of ram.
Another work around might be to use Wish I Were, or Was.. I have a .sit

I recently got a Duo 2300, which seems to be working fine (chimes on
startup, hard drive spins, shuts down on a power-return after
spinning), except that the screen doesn't work. It's illuminated
(backlight?), but there's no image. Any solution other than replacing
the LCD?
