I wrote in some time ago that I wanted to install 8.6 on my PowerBook
1400, but the installer would not let me. I go the advice to get I
wish I were, and I did. But the list of choice does not include the
iMac. How can I manually set the Gestalt of the PB to 406?

I want to put Virtual PC on my PB 1400, but the installer says that
itneeds 64 megs of RAM. I have a flash card I am using for virtual
memory. Is there a way to install Virtual PC anyways? If I hook the
PB up as a SCSI disk to my desktop that has more than enough RAM, and
install to the PB,
For several years I've successfully used a Sprint Wireless Web
Connection Card Kit to use my Sprint (Samsung) phone as a wireless
modem for my PB1400, thanks to some helpful folks on this list.
Problem is, I've now moved to a new plan (still Sprint) and I'm
getting a new phone. All indications

My venerable PB 1400's screen hinge just broke, so I'm looking for a
replacement display housing (the back part, #922-2535). I also need a
door plate for a PB 1400 6X/8X CD drive. If you have either, or a
good idea where to get them, please let me know.
Thanks,

Will the VST SCH3400 Battery Charger work without problems with the Original
G3,
I've had a bottom of the line G3 series Wallstreet given to me. I helped
get it to boot some time back and pulled data off of it...so I know it had a
dead pram battery then. I eventually got it to boot by leaving it plugged
in...but this time its set over night and still nothing. Ideas on ways

Hi Brian
I can't help you, I'm afriad. I've only used the game
on my G3 upgraded 9600 and it was pretty slow on that.
Looking at the system requirements, it looks like it
should run on your machine.
Sorry not to be more help.

Brian, I don't remember which game has what requirements, but I have
Civ II Gold running on my PB1400 (133mhz/OS8.6) with no problems. I
recall that we had a problem with screen resolution with my wife's 233
iMac back when we first bought the game and had to install a patch. You

I removed the battery, pulled all cords going to the 1400cs after
shutting it off. I got as far as pulling out the keyboard and the power
light came on very dimly. It would not go out even after pressing the
power switch in the back. I pulled the memory chip loose, removed it and
then took out

That's a good idea, but where would I find patches for such an old game? I
suppose I can check macsoft's site, but I wonder what the odds are of what i
need being there,

133 and 117 MHz should be interchangable in every machine. Are you
sure the 133 works ?

thanks jeff, I tried that patch, and it was a no go, didn't really change
anything. I'm afraid I'm at a loss as to how to attack this problem. Just the
same, I really appreciate the help I have recieved thus far, thanks.
