Mad Dog, this is mostly aimed at you. Though anyone can answer! Did you ever find the PLL resistors on the 2300 motherboard? I'm not certain, but I suspect they aren't in a "bank" like we see on most other Macs. It will take some investigating to confirm, but I'll bet they are on the undersid

PBs 1400 can use an expansion bay DVD-ROM drive using a 12x CD-ROM EBM shell and interface board. Laptop/slim DVD reader mechanisms are _very_ cheap. I tested a slim DVD-ROM reader I had laying about and it worked fine reading DVD-ROMs. my page on 1400 optical EBMs:
