I guess this is a 'yo-yo' power supply - the round one. The power cords on these are quite fragile and the wire inside the plastic outer sheath can break. Initially you'll get intermittent contact, and eventually no contact at all. As far as I know the only solution is a new power supply. -- P

For some reason it doesn't want to start up off the HDD. I'd start it off a system CD and see if the HDD shows up on the desktop - then at least you can tell whether something has gone awry with your re-install of the HDD, or whether somehow the System Folder on the HDD has been corrupted. --

Ha! PRAM reset was what I wasn't doing. If I do Command-Option-P-R after swapping screens I can now get the 1400c base (known to be good) working with the 1400cs screen (previously believed dead). I'm using it now - and just for the record, for my money the Active Matrix 1400c screen is much be
