Hello all,
I have a PB 3400/180 that I acquired about seven months ago. It's
been a
trooper, although I've had a couple of problems with speed. I wish I
hadn't
installed OS 8.6:(I don't have a copy of 7.6.1 to put on it).
Otherwise,
it's a good machine.
I began to find the ram a
The drive swap isn't tricky. I'f you've changed
drives before, you won't have any trouble. It's under
the palm rest on the left side. Remove the keyboard,
pop out any added RAM for freedom of movement, and ,
the trickiest part, release the clips retaining the
palm wrest without breaking

This is my first day and first post on this list.
I have a 180 running 7.5.1 and would like to use my ZIP drive with
it, but the
SCUSI probe won't put the Zip drive on the desktop. WHat am I dong
wrong?
I also would like to use this computer

If you like tweaking things put a faster crystal in the 3400 (under
the
power supply board). I sped my 3400/240 up to 300MHz withough any
problems. The speed increase was noticable.
OK.. I found some info on the crystal hack..

I know they technically don't mean much. It all comes down to writing
code
that is designed around the architecture of the computer.
But..
I have noticed when reading benchmarks and testing done on the 3400
and
other Mac products that

I have a PC with cubase I use for recording.. Well, actually for
mixing
because analog is better.
Anyway, anyone know what are some good recording software packages
that will
run on a 3400(180mhz) with 144MB ram?
On the cheap?
I don't

Is this true?
I can do a search for 128 MB module for a Kanga and this memory
module will
work in my 3400c?
No, this is generally not true. It is true that a 16MB or 32MB module
will be interchangable between a Kanga and a 3400 but most

I'm looking to hook up my 520 to a portable GPS with

there any mapping software out there that can handle
gps input run under sys 7.5?

The VL prefix means rechargable. The CR prefix means primary

Is that right? Well rats.
So my new batteries are going to bite the dust pretty quickly, then,
I'm betting. How long do you think they'd last?
It is hard to say

For anyone who is curious, I recelled my PRAM battery assembly today.
The individual cells are Panasonic 3V VL-(or CR- if they are new)
2330 parts. They are spot welded to the connector, but you can break
the weld points and re-assemble

My 3400's mouse button is starting to break. All of a sudden it only
'clicks' if pressed right in the middle, and mow has a stiff,
undercooked
feel which makes using it a pain. Once I find some info on how to do
so, I
plan on opening up the 3400 and taking

The center pin is standard and Radio Shack probably has it.
I looked at Radio Shack when I fixed my plug. I asked the guy if he
had a replacement and showed it to him.
Two things to consider:
The internal hard drive is not necessariy SCSI ID 0. They normally are
from the factory, but the only way to know for sure is to use some
utility to find out. Mt. Everything is the first one I go to but there
are many others.
The SCSI disk mode cable has to have 30 pins.
One thing I forgot to mention in my last post about SCSI disk mode...
One persons setup may not require termination on the end of the SCSI
chain while another setup might, even with the exact same computers.
This can be due to the length of the SCSI cable connecting the two (or
more) devices.

I just installed a fresh 9.1 on my 1400/G3, and wanted to use

me an alert saying that the 1400 doesn't have enough memory to run
without

P.S. I also need a service manual for the LaserWriter IINT.

Manually with the key strokes I can put it to sleep.
