Ok. I'm sorry Bruce, been off line for a while, but the Holy Grail
reference bought a smile to my face :)
Been thinking about watching that tape again for a while now. Guess
you made up my mind for me.

Hi Remy,
Yes and no. When the screen detached itself from the body because the
plastics separated, they gave it to me, free, gratis, and for
nothing, because they new I already had the CS and thought I might be
able to use some 'bits' from it.

Hi gang, just thought I'd pass along the latest development with a
5300c I sent through the REA program recently.
After waiting the 'suggested' two weeks, I rang Applecare Aus. today
asking if they could track down my little friend. The lovely Sharon
said 'good news/bad news'. The good news is
yeah. ain't it great :)
I sure felt smug when I took it back to the shop after Apple called
them and told them 'do it for free'. Especially after they (the
shop) wanted $600 from me.
I think the warranty was three months(?), and it packed up after
about five. I did the usual, and told them it
I had to replace the logic board :(
This actually happened after about 3 months to the board I had only
just recently replaced. I wasn't too pleased as you could imagine,
and the dealer here said 'cop it sweet mate. I'll sell you a new one'
(about AU$600). I said not likely, and phoned apple h

This is what my 5300cs did a while ago, and I had to get the board
replaced. Like you, I could view the screen on an external monitor.
Has your 'book been through the REA program? You might get lucky :)

The best thing about SpeedDoubler for my 5300 is the "keyboard short
cuts" feature, which will turn *all* menu items into keyboard
selectable shortcuts. Even all your Favourites in Explorer/Netscape.
I can't live with out it now. Also running 8.6 with 64 MB RAM and a 4 GB disk.

thanks (again) Shawn,
nah, not greedy, just got too used to twin 20" trinitrons on the desk :)
thanks for the link, sounds like it *might* work one day. The Ti
warning states their card is incompatible with 9.1 on this model, but
the warning below that says users of any Powerbook with firewire
Thanks Shawn, but just to be clear that I have explained myself properly, I
want to not only connect to an external CRT, but also a *second* CRT, to
give me the *extra* screen real estate.
Is this possible?
Many thanks, and sorry if I confused you (or me!)
