I'm trying to charge the battery with the Duo 230 adaptor for the time being, and I let it charge for about 6 hours today, and the machine wont power up. Would it take significantly longer to charge with this adaptor (~20 watt) versus a real 1400 adaptor (~45 watt)? If so, any idea how much

That's because System 7.1 needs an enabler to run on a 180. I know because I helped my friend reinstall 7.1 on his 180. Enablers go in the System Folder. The only thing you can do is make a special boot disk that has the enabler on it. You can download the enabler you need from Apple's Older
