Cupertino had to get some complaints. Of course, since
the machine is no longer supported, that may be moot.
When I find the courage (and the parts), I'll try this
and share the experience with my friends here.
Meantime, try that replacement screen, see if perhaps
it's managed to av
Should note that Sun Remarketing had PB100 screens for

Think that covers it.

thinking that the screen could be swapped, but from
what I can tell, nada. However, it at least has a
screen that fires up... except for those yellow lines
that run down. Is that just a cable issue?

Just how scarce are these things?
Thanks,

Hmmm sounds like a blog entry in the making...

After I reset the
machine (both reset and interupt switches), I get a
micro-second glimpse of a bright, normal screen on
restart.
I've tried several different ways to reset the PMU,
but so far, it's always the same result - the blue

Just wanted to let you guys know, I figured out the
problem... bad memory module. Grabbed a T-10, cracked
it open. Removed module, machine boots fine. It has
7.5.3, but it does run. Since it's only going to be
used for light work, this'll have to do.
Thanks again for helping out!

Hey Y'all,
First, just wanted to thank those who responded to my
post (was searching for small hard drive for 180); I
have a couple of options there. Muy gracias!
Incredibly, one of my students gifted me with a 180c.
All it had was a loose cable inside, and I got the
lil' wonder to boot.

Howdy All,
Just acquired a PB 180 that is in great shape
externally, crystal clear screen, no scratches
anywhere... and no hard drive. Since this is to serve
as a backup to my main PowerBook, handling mostly
light word processing chores and a couple of small
astronomy apps, my requirements aren't m
Well, it's come down to this...
A few weeks back, I posted here that I was having
problems with my beloved Portable "Galatea" - not
always booting off of the PB150 power supply or
crashing with certain apps. Pretty sure it was a PMU
problem, but I got no responses.
I don't collect computers, I use
tronomy and terminal apps seem especially prone to
this). Admittedly, the machine has not been used much
lately, and has been stored for about 4 months.
Any guesses? Is this a harbinger of impending doom?
Gravely Concerned,

Howdy,
Just obtained a PB 150 that does not power-up. It has
not been used in a few years (was surplus from a local
school district). At first, I thought it was the power
supply, but when this same unit worked on my Portable,
I knew that the cause must lay elsewhere. I opened the
unit and found a 2
