TCP/IP: Logging on to a same or higher OS over Ethernet is easy from OS
7.5.3. With my 500PPC running 7.5.3, with OpenTransport 1.1.1, I can log

I specifically upgraded to 7.5.3 because it seemed pretty complicated to
do that with earlier systems. LocalTalk is easier

time; they are both excellent portable computers for my purposes. My
set-up using different operating systems might be of interest to you. I
don't use anything below OS 7.6.1 on either computer.

You might have better results with a later OS.
Charles,
Maybe you missed the early parts of this thread:
I have a PB190CS with OS7.5.2
I have no browser, decompression utility, or network card in the unit.
I do have Claris Works and Norton

Just curious. What is the highest OS a 5300 can run on? (mine has 8.5
which is working out well, but I'm curious)
9.1 is the last OS for non-G3s PPC machines IIRC.

Yeah, you really want to use the system that gives your machine the
best performance.

I don't have any OS8 install disks. I downloaded the OS8.1 updates, and
found out later, reading the instructions, that I will have to buy an
OS8.0 system before I can install it.

Well, I found a copy of Stuffit5.5, which Allume says will run on

Hi, all,
I'm still struggling with this 190cs.
I realized yesterday that linux can read just about any filesystem out
there, so I looked through the man pages, and, sure enough, there was
the hfs filesystem -- it just wasn't turned on in the default
configurations. So I
