i have a problem reading html mails, not the kind of html that has
images and colors and stuff integrated, but usually it's just plain
message that people reply to. i send them a message from powermail in
plain text, they reply (from hotmail or gmail account) in html, and all

In Mail's Preferences under the General tab, first pull-down menu
'Default Email Reader' is the point to check ;-).

It's an hidden system setting, but you can set default helpers with this

To quote their site... Apple's own Internet Preference Pane only
allows you to set Mail and Web applications - More Internet allows you
to change (or add/remove) any of
