Keep in mind though that SSD drives only have a limited amount of write cycles.
That's why I personally still won't do that. For thatreason, SSD drives are
great for an OS drive or opperating system as you are not punnishing them in
the same way as you do an audio drive.

Just upgrade to an ssd. Pro tools does not require 2 drives. It's just best
practice with spinning drives. I record to my Samsung ssd with no problems on a
2009 m b p running elcap.

Thanks a lot. Yes I am using the apple pro
keyboard. I’ll try the tempo change thing on the next project. I let my
partner do it. I’m doing a whole bunch of fifties oldies stuff, all in 12/8.
Not very exciting, but simple enough to cut my teeth with PT.
Hi Gordon,
Assuming you're using an Apple Pro keyboard, it's the slash key to the left of
the asterisk and not a Shifted back slash. The first time you press it, it'll
enable the Start field and you can type your values. In this case, 35 then
decimal then 7 (no need to type a zero) and hit
After a long absence, I am finally actually doing a real
world project in pro tools, v12.5. I have two questions. I am trying to enter
values in the start and end fields in the counter display. I want to set the
start time to the middle of a bar, 35|07|000. The time

I use 1 in my control room & 1 in studio b.
You can hook up 2 mics for other rooms that need listen back also. :)
YMMV

Flexibility is a good thing. Just didn't find it that intuitive.

Probably a mixer of some sort as most monitor controllers will only
let you switch between different signals i don't think they will let
you blei blend t If your interface offers direct monitoring you can
probably just run the output of the mac from the headphon jack into a
s spare pair of inputs
With regard to the battery, that doesn't sound good. Don't remember Gord
saying anything about that. Agree though about the portability side of this
and adding RAM etc to slightly older MacBook Pro's. Love my mid 2012 15
inch I7 2.7 ghZ.

Putting in a 2nd Drive is no big deal, and fairly inexpensive. Lots of people
perform the task themselves, but even if you use a third-party such as simply
Mac, it will still only cost you a few hundred dollars. This is assuming you
want to go for something like a 256 SSD. Eventually I will do
Yes, sometimes but most of the time to the same headphone.

To verify that i understand correctly, you want to send VoiceOver and the
output of your PT session to the same monitors?
