I'm familiar with using Georeferencer in QGIS 1.8, but in 2.0, the image
layer don't appear after creating everything.
I can still see the red points on the base map, but the layer with the
image is not created.
Am I doing something wrong?

example I could have the Google street map and the satellite map. And I can
switch from one to the other by selecting and unselect the top most basemap

Just update the system with the repository of ubuntugis unstable and it

It is a known-issue. GRASS and SAGA integration (esp. in Processing) is
broken if you use the standalone installer.
It should work fine if you use the OSGeo4W installer - see

So if you can wait, there will be an updated standalone installer, if

I just updated from 1.8 to 2.0 from official qgis repositories but now
everytime I run qgis I get an error at startup:

I fixed the problem deleting qgis.db and symbology-ng-style.db from
C:\Users\myusername\.qgis2 folder and then restarting QGIS2.
Now it works.
