Hi Elisenda,
I'm afraid you need a bit of python script to do so, since the algorithm
dialog does not have an expression input button for the distance field.
Should go something like this:
inputLayer = iface.activeLayer()
for feat in inputLayer.getFeatures():
dist = feat['DIST'] #
And if I may, it's less about documenting features you are learning than
features you already know about. I mean, you describe things you know well (and
think they lack docs) allowing others who know things you not yet know to write
about them. This way, we all fill the gaps.
H.

I use QGIS since 2011 on a nearly daily basis, but it seems I'm not able
to keep pace with all the stuff that gets introduced.
I know of the docs-dilemma and I even subscribed to the community team
list some months ago, but since even the hole system behind the docs
seems to be so frightening

Salve, ieri ho collegato QGIS 3 a un servicio WMS della NASA, per sfizio, e
curiositá.
(NASA Earth Observations - https://neo.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/wms/wms)
Tutto ok, ma ho un dubbio: caricato il layer voluto, come posso capire i
valori di riferimento? C'é forma di conoscere le classi dei valori?
Ciao, pensandoci mi era successa la stessa cosa, aprendo un progetto vecchio
in QGIS 3.
Ma non ci avevo fatto troppo caso, essendo un solo layer da sistemare.
GRazie

phaaa ... that was too easy!
simply putting @symbol_color into the expression for data-driven font
colour does the trick.
I really love to see all these functions popping up in the last
versions, but without enough examples in the docs, you'll never know if

Hi list.
The metadata table "geometry_columns" is essential to getting QGIS right.
A former collegaue told me, that QGIS now requires that the field known as
"geometry_type" (or also seen: "geom_type") now needs to be named "type".
We just discovered that this column name in "geometry_columns"
Hi Bernd
You might be looking for the @symbol_color variable (

in these dialogs, double-quating is for variable (column) names, single quoting
for strings (like most expression builders and eg. also in SQL)...
...and you are correct, this is not stated in any obvious place, that should be
made more clear!

Hi,
Reading the help of the format_date function, the second argument should be
a string, and I'm not sure that "-MM-dd HH:mm" is necessarily read as
string in this context. I actually don't know what it's read as.

Hi all,
I'm trying to add points along lines using data from the attributes table.
I want to add points at the end/beginning with a distance from a column on
the attributes. I've tried it using the tools Points along geometry inside

Hi all,
I'm trying to create points along lines using the tool 'points along
geometry'.
I would like to use different distances for each line at start/end point
which I have a column with this data in the attributes.
Is this possible with this tool? I've tried it and it doesn't seem to
work.
Excuse me.
The message was for geoserver user list.

GRAZIE MILLE!
