i have a mail server, ares.pfeiffer.edu i do not wish it to accept mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED] i wish it to accept mail for [EMAIL PROTECTED] this works very well, control/me says: pfeiffer.edu control/rcpthosts says: localhost pfeiffer.edu i use tcpd and the RELAYHOSTS env. var to fight spam.

You have to remove sendmail b/c there are files in the qmail rpm which conflict with files in the sendmail package. If you want, you can save your /etc/aliases, but unfortunately, the sendmail executable in /usr/sbin would be overwritten by the qmail rpm if you use the --nodeps option to install.
