W, this is interesting. I never considered any of this, however I have no problems with it. If I am a passenger in my chair, which is rare, it is a little close to the top of my head. I guess I don't really care what ADA requires if it works for me. Am I missing something really important he

Hiya Brien,
You are most fortunate. However that van would not fit most
wheelchair users. Why?
The van you purchased was built as a transporter, not as a driver
unit. The distance between the factory ceiling and floor would not begin
to meet the Federal ADA Requirement.
Since the year
I'm paying for mine out of pocket - 450 a month. always bought my own
vehicles. after college, dvr told me to get a job, so I did.

I bought a 2003 ford e 150 chateau. This is the top of the line ford full size van. It came with a lift already insttalled but brand new because the intewnded owner died before it was ever driven. Anyway, all I had to add was hand controls, a power sliding door actuator and a transfer seat.

Just wondering who pays for these vans? I took driving lessons and got my licsense back in '77, but never had the money to pay the insurance let alone the price tag. I worked as a CPA and did volunteer work
VR will only pay for modifications to a new or very new van

With the technology they have today, if you are able to sit up straight and

Your State will not allow you to drive again until you have been
re-evaluated by a certified occupational therapist with drivers training
certification. You will be tested with various equipment to determine the
best equipment.
I'd consider it. You have very little to lose.
