I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but if it's the dictation box, my version of NaturallySpeaking has a checkbox in the bottom left corner labeled "Use automatic dictation box for this application." It usually comes up if NaturallySpeaking isn't compatible with the program you're trying to type

Dan, If you are happy with version 10, there is likely no need to upgrade to version 11. I do recommend upgrading your version 10 to version 10.1 if you have not already done so. I am pretty sure it is a free download/installation. It fixes a number of problems with the original release of version
