If there are little bubbles in the fuel coming in then it does sound
like it could be sucking in air somewhere.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the reply, I hope it's not a duff pump. There is an inline filter
just before the pump, it does have air bubbles in it thou' when the engine
is running, is this normal? How would I find out if there is an air leak in
the fuel line.

The one way valves in the fuel pump should normally stop the fuel
draining back to the tank.
So some thoughts:
A duff new fuel pump.
Dirt/rust from the fuel tank getting under the valves in the fuel pump
stopping it shutting fully, is there a inline fuel filter and is it
before the pump.
