One can always buy active speakers down at the music store, the kind
used for home studio use, they usually have a volume control(and
amplifier) in each speaker.

Guys on the chance that I will be thought an idiot (like that's not
happened before), I must confess to accidentally doing something that
appears to have cured the intermittent connectivity issues I was having
after upgrading to 7.4.2.
In despair one morning after the Boom quit playing abruptly,
The Easter Bunny updated my SBR to 7.5.0r8672--my files are playing
again!

I'm using my fairly new Radio as an alarm and it hasn't let me down so
far. I'm using a ReadyNAS server which is not on 24/7 but is on all
night, so as long as I know it's on when I go to bed I'm not relying on
it switching on in the morning.

Yeah - I can see why you wouldn't bother on a mono radio, but it does
output in stereo so thought it was worth asking I had a rather more
low tech answer, I'm using PC speakers and turned it all into a 3.1
arrangement. Not perfect yet and may rearrange everything when I get

I use the Radio as my primary alarm clock, even if I have a backup that
is my 11 months old son.
My configuration is without a local server, my SB3 and Radio are always
wirelessly connected to internet.
I cant remember it failed to ring, but very often it fails to have a
reliable connection with m
I also use the Radio as a daily alarm clock. Do have a 24/7 server
though.
Personally I wouldn't try with a server going/down up regularly as this
could spoil your alarm experience if you don't get it right (which is
hard, as the Radio doesn't send out a reliable WOL yet).

I have been successful using the Radio as an alarm clock. As iPhone
states, the setup is important. I had alarm problems early on when I
was using "sound effects" which actually come from mysqueezebox.com.
When I set my alarm sound to an mp3 which is on my local server, which
runs 24/7, my reli

I just voted for the bug because I experience this too.
We need to determine a workaround for this. The default alarm startles
me every morning I hear it instead of being woken up gently by my chosen
alarm.

I used radio and boom as alarm clocks. No issues with any of them. But i
also have a second alarm that tells me when i listened to enough music
and realy need to move.
All (radio, boom, clock) of them have 2cm digits, but without glasses i
can't read any of them ;)
