Welp, perhaps I jinxed myself. Radio just dropped out-- WiFi icon red.
No new deviced attached, nothing else changed with the network. Radio
became very slow to respond as before (slow/laggy menus, button press
registration, etc.) and couldn't connect to LMS
otherwise, until
the WiFi icon turns red, the Radio slows to a crawl, and the device
cannot be seen as an attached device on the router.
squeezemonkey: I, too, bought a damn battery for the thing!

Status update:
Did the above, WiFi dropped again. Then remembered to go back to router
to forward 3483 and 9000 with the new IP address. Left Radio on
overnight, so far so good. I'll be editing this post with updates on
uptime!

Edit: Radio is still up, no dropouts
saying the IP must fall
within the range set.
Ideas?
And thanks for the replies folks.

Wow, PROGRESS!
Turning encryption off on the router seems to have solved the problem.
Now the only problem is having it work with encryption.
FWIW, I have a WNDR3700v1 router by Netgear, and was using WPA2-PSK
[AES].
Anyone have any ideas where to go from here?

suggestion I got was to return it for a new Radio as the WiFi card
might've been bad.
Hopefully someone here has an answer!

This is suggested as just a temporary test to see if it will connect
absent such security. It's a mouse click to disable re enable, no
real risk.
Gotcha. Will give it a shot today.

via ethernet, no dropout.
WiFi continues to drop out. Doesn't matter if it's right next to the
router or not.
Will try disconnecting all devices but the Radio and see how things go
over the next several days.
