The radio in the shop does not have a subdirectory "Player" under
"Settings". I searched around a bit and couldn't find "Power on Resume"
anywhere. The software build is 7.5.4 r9408

Is it just me or did this stop working with the last update?
As Mark says, this is what you should normally change (from your
SqueezeServer web page) to get the behaviour you want. Set it to "Stop
at power off / Restart song a

That's what I would expect from Pandora, whose streaming model is
different from internet radio. But I am surprised at your local talk
radio. I'll experiment some more, but maybe not all internet radio
stations are the same when it comes to pausing.

I put a Pandora station on pause and came back 5 hrs or so later and it
picked up EXACTLY where it left off.
The local talk radio staion I listen to ( WAEB AM 790) in PA. has been

In my experience the buffering of the station runs out pretty quickly.
So if you put it in standby for 5-10 seconds while testing in a shop
you may get the "pause" effect, but I'd be surprised if it did that if
you had it in standby for several minutes or hours, which I would think

Some stations indeed do buffer their playback. What I do is press
another preset button and then a preset to the staion I was listening
too. Of course this helps if that station is already assigned a preset.
When I do that it "catches up" to the live stream. Hope this helps...

Pressing play from standby certainly brings back the radio station I
last listened to, but the stream has paused during standby, To get back
to live radio I need to fast forward.
I want the radio station to be live again at the touch of one button.

I guess I'm not following you...
Like any radio it starts on the station it was last tuned to. From
Standby if you press Play it starts to play (the last tuned
station).
If you want it to begin to play a certain station on startup, every
time, use the Presets. Pressing a Preset from Standby
My problem is this: I want an internet radio in the kitchen and my wife
just needs a regular radio.
While testing the Squeezebox Radio in the shop, I've noticed that when
you put a streamed radio programme into standby by pressing the power
button, it continues from where it left off when you tur
