I've tried 165, 170, and 172.5. Small changes can make a discernable difference on a bike. 170s work best for me (and I'm short with a 29" inseam) so that is what I stay with. On Tue, Apr 2, 2013 at 8:38 AM, Kelly wrote: > Garth, > > You and I are on the same page .. it's bunk for me. Then I a

Garth, You and I are on the same page .. it's bunk for me. Then I am not as sensitive to bike setup as many. I have 171 I think on the Ram and they are perfect.. those Rene Herse Cranks.. I have 175's on my AHH and 175's on my Bombadil with 172.5 on my Mountain bike I accidentally put 1

Have got the Marathon Racers on my Hillborne and they are nice tires. Not sure they'd be ideal for a commuter. Mine are wearing down faster than other Schwalbe tires I've used. T-Servs are a very good choice, but had the devil of a time installing and then removing them from my wife's bike. Ende

I run the marathon racers 1.6 on the tandem and really like them. Great tires, lighter and faster than the panaracers. Jan Heine has a new 1.6 tire out, but I doubt it will save money. Tires may not be a good place to try to save money. Like brakes, you are betting your life on them. Michae

Not exactly a Riv-specific topic, but I think some of you folks will find this interesting, and I'd appreciate any insight. Maybe Jan has done a study, or will do one soon. Over the years, I've used cranks in 165, 170, and 175 mm lengths, and all seem to be ok. I think I prefer the shorter end
