Congratulations! Quite the addition, I can't imagine you'll be disappointed!

Must be the latter. On mine, at least, there's nothing particularly
unconventional about the stops, and plenty of ways to install a hanger.

Pudge, that's what I figured. Btw, since you have one, can you tell us anything
about the sizing of this bike?

Sure, what do you want to know? The only thing I've ever measured are the
Brobdingnagian chain stays, which if I remember correctly are 47.5 cm. But I
can measure whatever you want, and offer the matching datapoint that the bike
is a wonderful fit for me (~86 pbh).

That's cool about the Conquest returning. I've always thought that was a
cool saddle in theory, so now maybe I'll get to try one, if I get around to
buying it before they discontinue it again ;-).

Hi Pudge,
I'm guessing that your proto-loosa's chain stays are longer than 47.5cm--
my 48-cm Hunqapillar has 46 cm chain stays. It looks from your Flickr pics
that the chain stays are ~same length as the seat tube.
The 58.7 cm appaloosa on the Riv site now seems also to have ~same chain
stay
Looks like the conquest is 1cm narrower than a Flyer and it is also
taller, according to the brooks dimensions they list on their site.

That's cute. I remember fondly the days when I'd pull my daughter around in
a trailer -- a regular Saturday morning routine; we' stop and get her a
balloon or two that she could hold out the window, and I'd go grocery
shopping (we had a double wide). I tried the Piccolo when she got too big
for
Mine refuses to ride her bike, the Brooklyn traffic scares her, and
probably for good reason.

All three of my kids have loved our Picolo (and the previous Giant
tag-a-long). My nearly five year old twins are just big enough to start
riding it this fall:

while my seven year old would really rather ride his own bike now, but
Aerohead rims are 20mm wide 700c.

Peter,
The hub on the front wheel powers the headlight, and the hub on the rear
wheel powers the tail light?
Usually I see one hub for both. But two sounds better if you get more power
flowing to them that way.

Hub on the front powers both, rear is an alfine 8 speed hub. Both are
great for city riding, I just leave the lights on all the time.

It's fairly easy to mount a pump so that it doesn't conflict with picking
up the bike and shouldering it to carry the bike. Here's a photo that
shows my Rivendell Road Standard with the pump (a Silca) mounted behind the
seat tube using a Campy umbrella style pump holder.
Terrific, Peter. Time, energy, money all well spent.I picked up a
craigslist piccolo and tried it for a spin up and down the block with my
3.5yo son. His legs are too short for the pedals, but I think we'll be all
set by spring. (Maybe I'll rig some foot-rest pegs or something...)

Ah...my favorite Rivendell. Every time the conversation turns towards the
current Rivendell design..double top tube, diagonal tubes, curvy stays,
beefy (my opinion) I think about what drove me to Rivendell in the
first place. Simple, clean, classic, proportional lines. I can't remember
Michael,
